While still a resident at the now defunct legendary Boston after-hours,
The Loft, DJ Bruno envisioned a perfect place beyond the Stuart
Street building. He debuted UTOPIA at the Paradise Bar in Cambridge
in 1992. Utopia’s reputation quickly spread as one of Boston
House Music’s deepest underground parties as DJ Bruno and
guests continue to drop records with the full relentless intention
of blowing your mind and guaranteeing that not one person is left
untouched! A room full of people singing together, dancing together,
celebrating the joys of music as delivered by serious djs. That’s
Utopia!
Utopia has been for years devotedly attended by many walks of life.
Loved and Loving Heads from all over New England dedicatedly support
and celebrate this weekly gathering with old and new-found friends.
At Utopia, you find yourself free to be yourself. Be Yourself!
House music enthusiasts in the form of listeners, dancers, dj’s
and producers, the old school, wanderers, new school and curious
know that Utopia is not just a name, but the ideal world they are
inspired to create. Utopia has always been a shared experience.
These same enthusiasts inspire the Party.
Past Utopia guest appearances include DJs Kerri Chandler, Kevin
Yost, Mark Farina and many of Boston’s local jocks. Legendary
House Vocalists India, Byron Stingly and Ultra Nate have also graced
the mics and stages. Who knows what presents the Future brings!
Although Utopia has entertained several venues during its 17 year
legacy, including The Spot, The Playhouse, The Ecko Lounge and Rise,
its foundation remains the same. The purpose of Utopia was, and
still to this day is, to be an event where local dj’s and
artists are given the opportunity to share their talent and love
for this culture and to always be inviting to and visited by party
loving individuals! Still true to those visions, Utopia also continues
to press on towards the growth and unity of the Boston House Music
Scene.
